A common question about open source software is whether it performs as well as proprietary alternatives, and how easy it is to use and manage. Refractions performed a benchmarking of Mapserver and ArcIMS to compare speed and usability and presented the results at the 2005 Mapserver Users Meeting in Minneapolis.
