OGC Services Survey
Summary
The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) facilitates the creation of and promotion of standards for geospatial software interoperability. Over the past several years, a number of web services standards have been approved by the OGC membership and adopted by national agencies as implementation standards for spatial information distribution.
This survey uses existing internet search infrastructure to track down and catalogue publicly available services that use OGC standards. Only services that have publicly posted about on the internet, and are publicly accessible can be found using this survey technique. Among the services this survey cannot identify are: internal private services (used inside large agencies and companies), services never mentioned in any web page.
